ABDC Season 5: West Regionals

Thanks to my awesome boss and friend TK, I had the most wonderful opportunity to go to the taping of ABDC Season 5: West Regionals.

I was so excited that I couldn't even think straight! I mean, never in a million years did I ever think I was going to be able to experience something like this.

The people I was most excited to see were JC Chasez from 'N Sync and Mario Lopez from Saved By The Bell. I've loved JC since I was like 12 and who wasn't in love with AC Slater?! Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet them but like I said, just to see them in person was amazing.

We actually went in as Press, and got to go backstage. Regular viewers are not allowed to bring cell phones or cameras, but since we were "Press" we got to bring in everything and got some pretty cool pictures!

So finally we got to the ABDC building and were escorted straight backstage! Our first stop was the Media Room.

After that it was over to the garage where all the performers were waiting for the taping to begin. First group we met was Hype 5-0, they came all the way from Hawaii! Aloha!

TK found his friends from Pacific Rim Video and became a co-host. Watch this video as he meets Heavy Impact. Make sure you watch the whole video because Teresa Espinosa from The Beat Freaks jumps in at the end! They groovin'!

Last but not least we went over to Poreotix. This is definitely a group that made my jaw drop when I first saw them at Body Rock 2009. Here's another Pacific Rim Video interview with hosts Angelica Alumia of Pacific Rim and Riquel Olander from We Are Heroes (ABDC 4: Champions)

It was time to go back to the Press area and let the performers get themselves ready. I was just sitting on a stool, when I looked up and there was Omarion just standing 5 feet in front of me, dancing around and just chillin! I was completely STAR STRUCK and didn't know what to do. TK was over on the other side of the room and I just kept looking at him, thinking "HELP!" He finally came over and he started a conversation with Omarion, and all I could do was giggle and nod. I didn't get the chance to take a picture with him, but here he is being interviewed shortly after we talked to him.

I also met Lil Mama who was pretty intense for such a small person. She shook my hand very firmly and asked me, "How you feelin?" She was very polite and nice I was happy that I had the chance to meet her. We didn't get the chance to get a picture since she was on her way out to get ready for the show.

Originally, I was not supposed to be able to watch the show with the audience but Winson (TK's friend who got us the Press passes) scored an extra audience wristband and TK let me go and watch since it was my first time and there was only one wristband! Thanks guys, I was so amazed from the show and had tons of fun!

After the taping was completed I went back to the garage and found TK. Here is the other side of the tunnel.

CONGRATULATIONS to Hype 5-0, Heavy Impact, and Poreotix for making it onto ADBC 5: The Nationals!

Hopefully I'll get to go again before the season ends. Thank you TK and Winson for allowing me the opportunity of this wonderful experience, I will never forget it!

That wasn't even the end of my night. Afterward we went to dinner at a Thai restaurant for Sthanlee's (Pacific Rim) birthday. Even Shaun Evaristo came out to join us since he was in town.

Photobucket

Oh, last but not least... a BIG SHOUT OUT to Chris Trondsen for jump starting TK's car 3 times that night! We would have never left the WB parking structure, the Thai restaurant, or the gas station if it wasn't for him!

P90X: Day 1

Today Lil Mike, BFF Jackie, and I started our P90X work out.

Weight has been a constant struggle in my life and I've FINALLY decided to do something about it!

Toe-Knee made me a deal for motivation. Since my goal is to lose at least 30 lbs. by May 31, 2010, he told me he will pay me $100 if I reach that goal. If I lose 40 lbs. I get $200! Now, that's what I call MOTIVATION!

Of course the everyday diet is going to change too. No flour products, strictly wheat and grain, no mayo, no ranch, no ketchup, mainly chicken and fish, nothing fried, no fast food, tons of fruits, tons of vegetables, wheat pasta with tomato sauce, mustard, almonds, etc... basically I need to find a new reason for living. LOL.

So, here on my blog I have decided to document my journey. I am a little embarrassed about my weight at the moment so I will hold off until day 90 and show everyone a COMPLETE comparison all at once. Currently, I weigh 1*4 lbs. (I'll fill that middle number in at the end of the 90 days!)

Wish me luck! =)

DJS & PERFORMERS

Salvation Alley featuring RRS Feed
DJs Raichous (SD), Roza (LA), and Shred One (SF) first connected headlining a collaborative DJ event in Los Angeles, CA in 2009. They instantly vibed and complemented each other’s style on the decks, igniting the spark for a future collaboration. Although residing in different cities, they set out to work together through a tireless series of practice sessions consisting of 3 mixers, 4 turntables, Raichous' swift and funky cuts, Roza’s smooth versatility, and Shred One’s impeccable selection. They eventually created and developed a unique style incorporating classic turntablist techniques using classic and modern sounds such as soul, hip hop, boogie, disco, funk, and uptempo beats, the foundation for their new group RRS Feed.

Legends Lounge featuring Tribe of Kings
Tribe of Kings is San Diego's premier reggae sound system. Established in 1997, Tribe of Kings has been hosting their own events, bringing the best in Roots and Culture Reggae and Dancehall to the people for over 10 years. Since their inception, they have played across many countries along with big reggae artists such as original Wailers, Collie Buddz, Sister Nancy, Khari Kill, Barrington Levy, Beres Hammond, Mikey Dread, Junior Reid, Abyssinians, Ranking Joe, Shinehead, Carlton Livingston, and Eek-a-Mouse, as well as festivals like Bob Marley Day, and Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. The Block Party is honored to have the legendary sound system gracing the Legends Lounge for the Holiday Block Party.

Main Stage featuring MindzAlike
Very few DJ crews stay close to the heart of San Diego like MindzAlike. Paying tribute to the days of mobile DJ crews in the 80's and early 90's, this band of DJs bonded originally as friends, then as the go-to crew for high school dances, weddings, and backyard boogies. MindzAlike has since grown alongside the city that made them. Currently the crew is making waves in nightlife holding residencies at Confidential, Thin/Onyx, The Office, 923 Bar as well is in Los Angeles at Bar Delux and Shortstop. This Block Party, DJs Mark Marcelo, Julz, and Edroc will feature a 4-turntable mash of classic party music representing years of dance-floor dedication to America's finest city.

Dance Performance featuring The Phillip Geniza Project
Phillip Geniza was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He began his dance career with FORMALity in the Fall of 2003. During his 6 year tenure with FORMALity, Phillip was blessed with the opportunity to direct their Junior team, Flipside, winning honors such as the National Gold Medalists at Hip Hop International, Prelude, World of Dance, and back to back champions at the San Diego County Fair. He was also the director of EKetc's co-ed team, Mass Appeal. Phillip has taught nationally and internationally in places like, San Fransisco, Las Vegas, Norway, and Canada. More recently he was fortunate enough to perform a collaboration set with Jun Quemado at his very first Choreographer's Ball at Carnival in LA. He currently directs two junior teams PG-13 and Riot7403 and teaches weekly classes at Studio 429, StudioFX, and Mystic Stepper.

Music in My Head.

This is one of my favorite Korean songs. (It's old but whatever)
I know a lot of people forget, but my nationality is KOREAN and I love that about myself.

I come from a background of good food, good skin, and good hair! HAHA. JK but Korea is full of such talented and beautiful people and I'm proud to be a part of such a wonderful culture.

Even if you can't understand, afer you watch this video you are guaranteed to catch yourself smiling. Hmm... who know's maybe I'll be the next Korean pop star! You never know! hahaha...
